Panel discussion between DCEFI/Japan and IIC-CNU/Taiwan

A panel discussion was hosted by Innovation and Incubation Center at 10:00 am this morning at Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science. Prior to the meeting, a cultural tour of calligraphic painting was arranged at 9: 30 am by Culture and Art Center.

Delegates led by Mr. Tsuneo Saho, Board Chair of DCEFI ( 佐保常夫/國際傑人教育基金 理事長), included Hiroyuki Ishii (石井裕之/株式會社 營業部長; Yoshii Construction Co., Ltd., Japan) and Yutaka Hiraishi, with Mr. Marshall Lin (General Manager of Wayyen Enterprise Ltd., Taiwan) serving as Japanese-Taiwanese translator. The environmental team led by Mr. Hsin-Hang Zhong, President of Blue Formosa Environmental Technology Corp. , Taiwan, consisted of Mr. Yi-Tun Wang (Mangager of BFETC) and Jing-Chih Cheng (Sun Dream Environmental Technology Corp., Taiwan), plus Dr. I.M. Chen of Environmental Resources Management Dept., mentor of BFETC. All IIC members were involved in this meeting, including Prof. Chih-Hsiang Liao, Director; Mrs. T.H. Lee, Executive Secretary; Assistant Professor C.H. Chou, Promotion Division Head; Mr. H.H Chen, Management/Incubation Division Head; and Miss I.L. Cheng, Specialist of Promotion Division.

The theme of our talk was to mediate possible business collaboration between BFETC/Taiwan (IIC-incubated company) and Yoshii/Japan (member of DCEFI) in the field of contaminated soil remediation and its reutilization. In addition, it was also explored to seek the possibility of developing future professional training program between DCEFI and CNU, in view of the great need of people hunting by the "Health Square". According to Mr. T. Saho of DCEFI, the plan of running 4000 health-related business complex in the future is undergoing.

In the meeting, Prof. Liao first gave a welcome speech and explained the agenda to be followed. Right after this, there's a 13-minute video show introducing Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science. Mr. T. Saho was quite impressed on what we have in CNU, e.g., colleges, facilities, and modern buildings. Following the video show, Prof. Liao briefly introduced the profile of Innovation and Incubation Center, emphasising especially in these aspects such as who we are, what we are, and where we are. This was then followed by the introductions of DCEFI by Mr. T. Saho, Yoshii Company by Mr. H. Ishii and BFTEC by Mr. H.H. Zhong. At this point, both parties seemed to get to know each other more and more. This thus brought both Mr. Ishii and Mr. H.H. Zhong into hot discussion over the issues of soil remediation technique, soil-derived products and market, cost, and the like. After a brief break, everyone enjoyed a lunch box of Susi, and some casual talks could be heard among participants.

Since our Japanese friends had to catch the scheduled high speed rail train, the meeting was adjourned finally at around 1: 15 pm. By the way, it's only 10 minutes drive from CNU to the nearby HSR station.

Well, what's the next we should act on things we have discussed? Meeting was over, yet things-to-be-done is just beginning. A thought just flashed through my mind. What about we endorse a memorandum of partnership between DCEFI/Japan and IIC-CNU/Taiwan before going down the road ahead?
