hat it really spells out behind the melody. Now, we have the interpretation for this song from our very authentic Korean friend, Dr. Jeyong Yoon. This song, together with three other Taiwanese songs (here, here, and here), will be presented and included in the brochure for the upcoming event in July. I love the way it describes man's heart and woman's heart in Verse 5. Why don't you take a break and enjoy its lyrics?
Sir,

Subject: Short description for Ah-ri-rang ;
This us the short description for Ah-ri-rang song in Korea.
Short description for Ah-ri-rang ;
Ah-ri-rang is one of the many representative folk songs of Korea. The word "Ah-ri-rang" can mean both "beautiful lover", or "a person so dearly missed". The verses basically mean this:
My beautiful lover whom I miss
I shall wait with my heart so broken
Here, the heart-breaking farewell for my fair lover
It has been traditional since hundreds of years ago, marveled at for its uniqueness and attractiveness.
The english version of Ari-rang song is as follows.
1st Verse:
If you leave and forsake me, my own,
Ere three miles you go, lame you'll have grown.
2nd Verse:
Wonderous time, happy time -- let us delay;
Till night is over, go not away.
3rd Verse:
Arirang Mount is my Tear-Falling Hill,
So seeking my love, I cannot stay still.
4th Verse:
The brightest of stars stud the sky so blue;
Deep in my bosom burns bitterest rue.
5th Verse:
Man's heart is like water streaming downhill;
Woman's heart is well water -- so deep and still.
6th Verse:
Young men's love is like pinecones seeming sound,
But when the wind blows, they fall to the ground.
7th Verse:
Birds in the morning sing simply to eat;
Birdes in the evening sing for love sweet.
8th Verse:
When man has attained to the age of a score,
The mind of a woman should be his love.
9th Verse:
The trees and the flowers will bloom for aye,
But the glories of youth will soon fade away.
Enclosed are a couple of images of photo regarding Ari-rang.
Best regards.
